Cactus Blossom square tray

Cactus Blossom square tray

$40.00Price
We are introducing square trays for the first time in the 2017 collection! Offered in two sizes: 8 inches and 6 inches square.
This magnificent Cactus Blossom print is from the text “The Cactaceae: Descriptions and Illustrations of Plants of the Cactus Family,” by by N.L. Britton and J.N. Rose (1913). The Cactaceae monograph was written by the American botanists Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose and published in multiple volumes between 1919 and 1923. It is still considered quite influential and remains a cornerstone of cactus taxonomy.

In the potichomania process, the glass acts as both a foundation and protective finish, saving the step of varnishing. The original intent was to recreate Greek and Etruscan vases by simulating rare and expensive Sevrés porcelain.

This tray measures approximately 8x8x0.5 inches; the 6 inch tray measures approximately 6x6x0.375 inches.
The relative thinness of these glass trays – just over 1/8” thick – belies the complexity of the potichomania process. Each of our trays is comprised of a glass tray, three layers of 28# paper, four coatings of varnish, and finished with two coats, each of paint and clear acrylic spray. We’ve added a high-quality felt pad on the bottom in order to protect your home surfaces.

Care: Please spray with a gentle glass cleanser and wipe clean. Do not submerge in water. For decorative purposes only.
