Japanese Eye Chart

Japanese Eye Chart

$225.00Price

Japan employs a trio of unique tests: the Landolt C, Japanese hiragana, and the customary pointy fish. The Japanese eye chart uses letters designed in the same way as the traditional Snellen optotypes, with strokes and gaps of uniform thickness.

When taking the exam, patients are asked to name which part of the circle is missing, using 上 (ue, up), 下 (shita, down), 右 (migi, right), and 左 (hidari, left). The test is well-suited for patients with insufficient language skills The examiner will likely have you point your finger in the direction of the opening instead.

Japanese eye exams using hiragana or katakana are like alphabet letters in the west. patients are presented with a list of hiragana characters and asked to name them one at a time.

Please see our "Details" section for more information on the construction, and care of our table trays. In the potichomania process, the glass acts as both a foundation and protective finish, saving the step of varnishing. The original intent was to recreate Greek and Etruscan vases by simulating rare and expensive Sevrés porcelain.
