Kindergarten Eye Chart
The EMI Kindergarten eye charts are the familiar charts with the big symbol at the top and progressively smaller letters at the bottom of the chart down to 20/20 or better. This is a chart for measuring visual acuity at a distance — in other words, how well you can see things that are far away. These charts are to be used at a 20 foot distance.
This Kindergarten chart uses several different symbols for pediatric testing. These symbols includes a heart, star, circle, plus, boat, cup, moon, hand and flag. The use of these symbols helps make this chart great for testing preliterate children. The first set are called “Lea” figures. It does not matter what they call the pictures, as long as they are consistent and it is clear what they are describing (eg. the figure at lower right is often called an “apple” or a “heart”, but any answer is fine).
The next set of pictures are called “Allen” figures (cake, hand, bird, and horse, etc). The final figures, are the “HOTV” optotypes. Letters are really just shapes. By simplifying to just a few letters that are fairly distinct, even kids who don’t know their letters yet can match these “pictures” to corresponding H,O,T, V figures on a card in front of them.

Please see our "Details" section for more information on the construction, and care of our table trays. In the potichomania process, the glass acts as both a foundation and protective finish, saving the step of varnishing. The original intent was to recreate Greek and Etruscan vases by simulating rare and expensive Sevrés porcelain.

Details & Care of Tray
This tray measures approximately 12x6 inches. The relative thinness of the tray – just over 1/8” thick – belies the complexity of the potichomania process. Each of our trays is comprised of a glass tray, three layers of 28# paper, four coatings of varnish, and finished with two coats, each of paint and clear acrylic spray. We’ve added a high-quality felt pad on the bottom in order to protect your home surfaces.a
Care: Please spray with a gentle glass cleanser and wipe clean. Do not submerge in water. For decorative purposes only.
